personal data
Kurt Rohner is
Swiss and was born in Herisau/AR in 1954. After an apprenticeship
as mechanical engineering draftsperson, he acquired an economics high
school degree as autodidact and studied engineering at the ETH Zurich.
Over the years, he engaged in advanced training programs at INSEAD
in Fontaineblau, London Business School, Stanford University, Harvard
Law School in Cambridge, and Harvard Business School in Boston.
The following managerial positions provided him with solid sales and
marketing skills: 1983 he started as key-account manager for complete
system sales with HP Switzerland. Between 1985 and 1988 he was head
of marketing and sales for computer systems with Olivetti / AT&T.
As of 1988, he worked for the management of UNISYS Switzerland as
sales responsible marketing director.
From 1991, he was self-employed and besides various consulting activities
took on management mandates in the former Soviet Union as operational
member of the board of directors, and also as overall leader and delegate
of the board of directors of a company group for finance software
operating in Europe. From 1995, he specialized increasingly in negotiating
mandates for business transactions (projects, acquisition, sales and
M&A) in the range between CHF 1.5 m and CHF 1.5 bn. Kurt Rohner
led hundreds of sales or acquisition transactions (contracts) target-oriented
as chief negotiator in a mandate relation ship or was actively practice-involved
in the background as negotiation advisor.
Kurt Rohner takes on board of directors's mandates, management mandates
for certain periods, as well as negotiation mandates. Focus of the
advisory services by Rohner & Colleagues are corporate strategy,
marketing strategy, supply strategy, supply chain management, contract
management and the establishment of negotiation competences in big
organizations.
Being an entrepreneur, he is looking back at several successful formations
of business and one failure. As external board of directors, he implemented
and still realizes his broad international experience in start-up's
and middle market companies. For more than 15 years, he initiated
various several-days workshops in the areas of marketing, finance,
contract management and conduct of negotiations; he moderates them
in public, as well as tailor-made for corporations in Europe and the
Middle East, in German, English or with simultaneous translation.
Kurt Rohner is regularly engaged as speaker on subjects from his sphere
of competence. As an author, he published a large number of articles,
more than a dozen case studies and negotiation simulations (cases)
for negotiation and executive trainings so far. He is exclusive author
of the three books: "Cyber-Marketing", Orell-Füssli 1996;
the "The Internet Guide for Managers", publisher Moderne
Industrie 1997, and "Marketing in the Cyber Age", Wiley
& Sons 1998.
